Creating brighter futures for Indias youth though sport
Here If You Need Foundation was established in 2015 by a dedicated Australian and Indian team, all united by a shared passion for sport, children, and equality.
​
Right now, 206 million children in India are missing out on essential services like education, health care and safe housing, with 70% of Indian adolescents (approximately 45 million children) not meeting the minimum standards of physical activity.
​
This lack of movement has led to far-reaching consequences like increased stress, poor mental health, nutritional deficiencies, and limited reproductive health awareness, especially among girls.
​
In many marginalised Indian communities, girls are discouraged from participating in sport, often pulled from play once reaching puberty, and with early marriage still a common expectation, being bound to home duties takes priority. In semi-urban areas, social stigma, safety concerns, and gender norms limit access to physical education.​​
Over the years, HIYN have expanded our school partnerships across India, trained local mentors, and launched ongoing fundraising initiatives to keep programs running. Most importantly, HIYN has had the privilege of connecting with the children and their families, learning from them, and witnessing the resilience, curiosity, and joy that sport brings - and the lasting difference it makes in their lives on and off the field.

Free from fear, judgment, or exclusion.​ A world where kids of all backgrounds can build confidence, discover their strengths, and grow into leaders, all while enjoying the mental and physical benefits of being active.​

Behind HIYN
“Here if you need” is a common phrase in Australian netball, used to signal support to a teammate. It’s a simple, powerful way of saying: "I'm here" and “I’ve got your back.”
For us, it's more than a saying. It’s our philosophy. Here If You Need reflects our commitment to being present for young people, both on and off the field. It signals trust, support, mentorship, and the promise of showing up when it matters most.

Here If You Need Foundation leverages the power of sports to foster essential life skills, confidence, autonomy, and self-advocacy in children.
By promoting leadership, fairness, and cooperation, we create an inclusive environment where children from diverse backgrounds can thrive.
Through collaboration with local governments, schools, and organisations, we provide programs and training to educate and promote physical health, mental well-being, and career goals.
We aim to positively influence the emotional, intellectual, social, and physical development of children, thereby enhancing their quality of life as adults.
